Q. How does a encasement work on dust mites?

A. Dust mites live in our mattress.  If you get a new mattress you can encase it with one of our allergy bedding products. That will keep dust mites from growing in your new mattress.  You still need to wash your sheets and mattress pad often to get rid of any that start growing there.  But you can not wash a mattress. So you encase it.  This traps the dust mites away from you and cuts off their food supply.  They feed on the dead skin cells we shed every night. The allergy encasement is so tightly woven that the droppings from a dust mite can not get out and cause you to wake up with a stuffy nose or worse set off an asthma attach. When their food supply is cut off they will eventually die.

Q. Can they get out through the zipper?

A. If you choose a encasement that is of lesser quality then ours, this might happen. The openings between the zipper teeth are enough to let the  microscopic allergens caused by the dust mites out. But our high quality encasements have a specially designed zipper system and reinforced, bound seams.

Q. How do Allergies develop?

A. After allergy antibodies have been formed in a person's body in response to a particular allergen, an allergic reaction can occur when the person comes in contact with that allergen. Depending on the substance, allergens can be inhaled, eaten, injected, or contacted by the skin. When allergy antibodies are activated by an allergen, they cause body cells to release a substance called a histamine, a chemical that dilates blood vessels, promotes fluid secretions, and stimulates nerves that cause muscles to spasm. These reactions create various allergy symptoms.
